Urgent Voices in Translation brings together a community of translators and university students committed to the translation of plays and short narratives that are at the forefront of critical social issues. Through the process of translation, students are afforded the opportunity to be actively engaged in giving voice and visibility to lesser-known texts that are focused on issues related to gender violence, terrorism, racism, all forms of displacement and discrimination. This project is headed by Dr. María Chouza-Calo, Dr. Esther Fernández and Dr. Juan Hernando, and it involves student participants from Central Michigan University and Rice University.
